Sometimes I have notice that people have their different reasons of going to the gym. Some go just to hang out with friends, some go for the girls which I don’t blame them and finally some go just to work out but with no direction. Did you read that last part? Workout with no direction and that’s what I want to talk to you about but first off, I want to congratulate you for making that decision of taking your health seriously. Now, before you start working out, looking for a workout regime, before you start the treadmill or even touch a barbell, you need to do this one thing that will keep you motivated, the one thing that will keep you in line and finally, the one thing that people forget to do before starting going to the gym, get ready cause here it is:
HAVE A GOAL
That’s right, some people forget to have a goal before they even start the bodybuilding lifestyle because working out is not just a hobby but also a lifestyle. Honestly, what is the point of knowing the benefits of working out if you don’t know what do you want out of it. You need to have a goal for your workout whether if its losing weight or gaining muscle or both and you have to be realistic about your goals. These are some good examples to give you a idea of what I mean:
I want to lose 10 pounds by the end of the month.
I want to gain 10 pounds of muscles within 6 months.
I want to lose 20 pounds in 3 months.
I want to lift 200 pounds in Deadlifts.
I want to lift 250 pounds in squats.
I want to gain strength but stay lean.
I want to gain muscle and size.
I hope these examples help you get an idea of a goal you want to set for yourself. Remember YOUR goal is different from everyone else because your body is not the same as my body or anyone elses body. You need to decide what is it YOU want out of your workout and after you set yourself a goal, then you can figure out what exercises or diet that are best for you and your goal. If your goal is to lose weight, then do cardio on a empty stomach will be one of the things you can do to reach that goal. If you want to gain muscle and strength, doing the big threes(Squats,Bench Press, and Deadlifts) will help reach that goal. Trust me when I say this cause I have been in your shoes before that I would workout without having a goal and it sucks bad and a big waste of time.
Bottom line of this article is that you must have a objective when you workout otherwise you will just be hitting the gym blindly without a goal and just not having one alone will not keep you going to the gym for long.
So tell me, whats your goal?
